First Power Generators

This company, lead by Dwayne Fudge is misrepresenting themselves as a Generac Authorized Sales & Service Dealer when they NOT. You can contact Generac yourself to confirm as I did in Oct 2022 to lodge a complaint about shady dealings we had with this guy on our maintenance plan. He installed a residential generator at our home in Dec 2017. The unit has been great and was a fair price. However, we purchased a 10 year service program that included 2 service visits per year (1 major service/oil change and 1 check-in). It was quite expensive so he offered us to pay for 5 years up front and he was supposed to bill us for rest in a few years. Our experience was we had to chase down and request the annual service visits and the 'check-in visits" never really happened (1 at most). In year 5 he informs us after the fact that he cancelled our service program due to inflation and was passing us off to another service provider (A1 Generator monitoring) that he called his "sister company". After checking into our invoices, I realized he never billed us for the second 5 years (poor management on his part), so while we were not happy we didn't fight the second 5 years. The issue was that he owed us the year 5 service visit based on what we had paid (he executed 4 oil change visits and not 5 that were paid and maybe executed 1 of the 5 minor check-in visits). He claimed he didn't owe us anything and was out of pocket, but his logic and math simply didn't add up. We sent numerous emails, explaining simple math, including copies of our contract, many phone calls unreturned, rude and unprofessional responses from him, prompted us to contact Generac directly via LinkedIn. This lead to a phone call with their Residential Dealer leader for Eastern Canada. He sympathized with our situation and confirmed both First Power and A1 were not authorized dealers/service providers. He also explained that Dwayne can buy these units on the free market and resell so its hard for them to control this. He basically said Dwayne is operating out of a storage unit and not a legit dealer with a store front. He then recommended a local authorized dealer to service our unit - Bulldog Power, who have been fantastic. For approx $300 bucks to honour our last service, it shocks me that a business owner would let a situation like this go unresolved. I'm sure he will respond to this post with fake math and excuses, but the data doesn't lie. It's simple math.

Dwayne and his team were professional, knowledgeable and great to deal with. They answered all our questions and kept us informed every step of the way. The following week we had a 5 hour power outage and what a relief to have the generator come on with the ability to power the entire house. We would highly recommend Dwayne and his entire team at First Power Generators.

From the first meeting to the final day of the generator install, Dwayne and his team were professional, knowledgeable and reliable. Most importantly, they provided a detailed plan of what to expect ,they were always available to answer questions and willing to work around our schedules. Truly a top notch experience.
